Apoorva Jinka-Patel, OD, FAAO graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from State University of New York College of Optometry. Dr. Jinka completed her residency in Primary Eye Care and Ocular Disease at the VA NY Harbor Health Care System in Brooklyn, NY. She has previously also served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor for SUNY College of Optometry, precepting students and residents in training. Dr. Jinka is currently a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Jinka’s professional areas of interests include glaucoma, ocular manifestations of systemic disease, dry eye, and uveitis. She has presented posters at academy meetings, participated in Grand Rounds lectures, and delivered a COPE (The Council on Optometric Practitioner Education)-approved lecture to her colleagues.
Dr. Jinka’s compassion goes beyond the exam room. She has participated in national and international medical mission trips in Manhattan, NY, Chiapas, Mexico and Pananomé, Panama, and is looking forward to many more missions in the future.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Jinka enjoys photography, reading, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
